SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT
Mazda Motor Corporation has developed an advanced safety Technology called Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) which helps a driver to avoid frontal collision when driving at low speeds in the city or in slow traffic. The SCBS system will be available in Mazda’s all new Crossover SUV, the Mazda CX5. When driving from approximately 4-30km/h, a laser sensor mounted at the top of the front windshield glass detects a vehicle or obstacle in front of the car and reduces brake rotor travel to quicken braking when the system calculates that there is a risk of a collision occurring. Next, if the driver fails to perform any avoidance manoeuver such as applying the brake, an automatic braking operation is activated. When the speed difference between the driver’s car and the vehicle in front is less than 30km/h, the system is designed to avoid or mitigate the damage from a collision.
SKY ACTIV
In a refreshingly detached look at the obvious, Japanese Carmaker Mazda has embarked upon an intriguing new approach. It brands this whole New Approach “Sky Activ” which covers many bases but which contains some intriguing new takes on existing methods. This means that SkyActiv cars need cost no more than their predecessors,yet they will be much more fuel-efficient and quite a lot more fun to drive. i-Stop
Reduces fuel consumption by shutting down the engine when the driver stops the vehicle. Unlike other systems , i-stop effectively “pauses” the engine rather than stopping it, so it’s ready to restart within just 0.35 seconds in a smooth and fuel efficient way.
Lane Departure Warning System
Designed to warn the driver if the vehicle inadvertently strays from its lane. A front-view camera monitors the road ahead and calculates the car’s position relative to the lane markings. Should the system detect that the car is about to unintentionally move out of its lane, it sends a vibration through the steering wheel to warn the driver.
Full implementation of SkyActivTechnology, i-stop and excellent aerodynamic performance enable the CX5 to achieve excellent fuel economy and clean exhaust gas.

The Mazda CX-5 is a compact/small-familycrossover SUV produced by Mazda starting in 2012 for the 2013 model year lineup. It is Mazda's first car featuring the new KODO - Soul of Motion Design language first shown in the Shinari concept vehicle in May 2010.It is also the first vehicle featuring the company's Skyactiv Technology featuring a rigid, lightweight platform, combined with a new series of efficient engines and transmissions resulting in reduced emissions and fuel consumption.The model was first shown at the September 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The CX-5 is available with both front and all-wheel drive, powered by a 2.2 liter two-stage turbochargeddiesel (SH-VPTS) with either 147 bhp (110 kW; 149 PS)/280 lb·ft (380 N·m) or 173 bhp (129 kW; 175 PS)/310 lb·ft (420 N·m), emitting an estimated 119 and 139 g/km, respectively.
